Last week when I was waiting on The Lord for the prayer meeting, I saw a vision of Captain America and his friend Buck. Since I was not thinking about this at all, I asked The Lord about the vision, and what it had to do with the prayer meeting? So this is what followed: (Warning: Spoiler alert on the recent movie "Captain America: Civil War"!) In the vision, I saw Captain America rescuing his friend, Buck. Captain America is relentless. It's his friend and he doesn't want to see him get hurt. He also wants the deception taken off of him. So he puts his life at risk. He would risk everything to rescue Buck. He doesn't sign the accord. (In not signing the accord, he can be arrested if he is found doing any ‘super hero’ activities; the government wants to 'control' the super heroes.) But the Captain refuses to be put in a box. He believes truth, what he sees and knows to be true. And the Captain loves his friend enough to rescue him. And so he risks being arrested to do it. The scriptures came too: John 10:11, John 15:13, and 1 John 3:16. John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. 1 John 3:16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. The question is: Will we, as the church, lay down our lives for our friends? Will we pray for them? How else will their eyes be open? How else will the prodigals come home, if we don't pursue them in prayer? In relentless prayer? The enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy. The enemy made Buck a different person. But Captain America saw that. Jesus came to set the captives free. Acts 10:38, and 1 John 3:8. Acts 10:38 ..how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. 1 John 3:8 For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. When you are affected by the god of this world, you are not in your right mind. You have lost your identity. Jesus came to destroy the works of the enemy. Deception is from the enemy. Buck was out of his mind. Many in America are not in their right minds; they have no idea what they are doing. They are being oppressed and depressed by the enemy. We are supposed to be like Captain America and go after them. We are to pursue them in prayer until their eyes are open to see truth. So in the movie, Captain America not only represents truth, but he also sees truth. Captain is a symbol for Jesus. He steps out in faith, and he goes to rescue Buck. However, Iron Man and the Black Widow don't agree and they fight the Captain. Iron man has a lot of mixture in him- not like refined gold - he has ‘man mixture’ in him. So he was deceived; he didn't know the truth and he was fighting against his own brother or group. Even Black Widow was deceived; her heart was confused too. She was trying to protect her own life. Jesus said if you save your life you will lose it. Matthew 16:25. Matthew 16:25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. Then the Black Panther (he wore a dark black cat suit in the movie) was filled with revenge. He also goes after the Captain and Buck. He was blinded by his own heart of revenge; he could not see truth either. But then God steps in. Eyes are open and hearts are changed. First, Iron Man’s heart is changed, and he finally sees truth. Then the Black Widow’s heart is changed, so now she blocks Black Panther from his revenge on Buck. And finally, the Black Panthers heart is also changed. He says ‘I have been wanting revenge, but I don't want it any longer’. So three hearts are totally changed. Why? Because someone stood up for truth. So the movie is a symbolic picture of what is happening in our nation now. The reason God showed me all of this was to pray. Many in our nation, like in the movie, are deceived and don't see truth. So we need to pray for eyes to be open; for deception to be gone, for blinders to come off eyes. We want the captives set free. We want the truth to reign in people's hearts and minds. We want eyes open and repentant hearts. Let us pray. Let us have the heart of Captain America, and be relentless in prayer and in laying down our lives for the souls not seeing truth.
