Do you have a book to write?

SOME WRITING TIPS
Everybody has a story or a testimony! Do you have something you want to share? Maybe you have already started. Here are some random writing tips!

1. SCHEDULE YOUR BOOK TIME: How urgent is your book? If you are writing something that you think is urgent- then you need to make time for it. Writing takes time. Most of us have a life- we have a job, family, etc. So finding time to write can be challenging. I would suggest making it a priority, and putting it in your schedule. Like take 20 minutes a day for your writing. Or even 30 minutes a week! How much extra time do you have? Schedule your writing time in your weekly schedule.

2. DO YOUR RESEARCH: Where are you in the research part? For some books, you will need to do research. Like looking up scriptures. It took a lot of time for me to research the miracles in the Bible- so much time. Taking that time is foundational. Once you finish that then you can move on to the writing part.

3. GO BACK TO WHERE YOU LEFT OFF: Have you already begun but not advanced? No worries. Even if you only wrote one page or one chapter. Go back to where you left off. And then look again with fresh eyes. Ask the Lord to help you move on. Things can move more quickly  when you look at it with new eyes. 

4. STUCK ON YOUR OUTLINE? Do you feel stuck in the outline? Not sure if you have captured the basic plan for your book? It happens a lot. What I usually do when that happens is to pray again. I want to make sure God is in it. But then I will ask for advice from Bob or from someone else. That feedback is extremely helpful. It will give you new ideas or a new perspective. 

5. WRITER'S BLOCK?  When this happens- you sit down to write and nothing comes. Ugh! We've all been there. What to do? Stop. Don't try to force it. Put it aside for a bit. Go outside. Maybe even put it aside until another day. Or wait for the weekend. Again, pray for revelation. 

When I was editing my index for the miracle book, it was very tedious. It took about 3 weeks just to edit the index. But then I prayed and the Lord gave me revelation- on the index! That was worth the whole process!

6. SET A GOAL: Yes, writing takes time. But where there's a will there's a way. If you have an idea, then keep on with it. If your book idea is from the Lord, there will be an anointing on it. And I make my own deadlines for my books, and so can you. Set a goal for when you want to finish. For example, I thought I would finish my miracle book by December-No worries- it was pushed back- but I finally finished in April.  Setting a goal is very helpful- at least it gives you some incentive to work on it.

7. DON'T GIVE UP! It will be so worth it. Anything that you do for the Lord is important, so be persistent. Just keep on trying. You should see the transformation in my books- I would try this and that. I would order a proof of a book to see what it looked like- and then totally I would totally redo it! But in the end I got the desired outcome. I just kept on trying!

Habakkuk 2:3 But these things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day! TLB
